First Legal Whiskey Distillery in Manhattan Since Prohibition

Welcome to Great Jones Distilling Co., the first (legal) whiskey distillery to open in Manhattan since the days of Prohibition. Located at 686 Broadway (in NoHo), Great Jones opened the doors to their 28,000sq ft, multi-floor, custom designed distillery at the end of August! Utilizing an historic building with its own interesting link to Prohibition (hidden tunnels were found during renovations and believed to have been used to smuggle liquor during those dark days), this new distillery offers tours, tastings, a speakeasy, a restaurant, and four bars! While the settings might be luxe, it is a working distilling operation, and they produce a straight bourbon, a four grain bourbon, and a rye – all utilizing grains grown in the Black Dirt region of  upstate New York. This project has been over 6 years in the making, and it was no small feat to get it up and running – but if you take a look at their pictures and offerings, it’s sure to be a winner!
